Tai Chi & Qigong Classes
All classes are held at at the Clubs at the Charles River Park, 10 Whittier Place, Boston, MA.

This class will focus learning the Cheng Man-Ching’s 37 Tai Chi short form, one of the most popular tai chi forms in the West. The class is appropriate for students with some experience with qigong/tai chi.
Tai chi is a Chinese martial art that employs slow intentional movements, coordinated with breathing and imagery, to strengthen and relax the physical body and mind. It enhances and balances the flow of internal energy (qi), resulting in improved health, personal development, and self-defense.
Not just for the fit and able-bodied, tai chi is also famous for its healing applications. Medical research suggests tai chi may have therapeutic benefits for:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Balance disorders
- Low bone density
- Arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Stress
- Attention deficit disorders
- Sleep disorders
- Depression
The class introduces students to Cheng Man-Ching’s 37-Movement Short Form, one of the most popular tai chi forms in the West. Emphasis is placed on proper structural alignment, relaxed and mindful movement, and efficient breathing.
Registration reflects $16 per class.

Prepaid classes and absence(s) from classes are non-refundable. We regret that we are unable to hold spaces in our classes unless payment in full has been received. Please note: the Tuesday and Thursday classes are not interchangeable; please select the class/day of the week that you will be attending.

The Clubs at Charles River Park is located at the end of Storrow Drive and is adjacent to 6 and 8 Whittier Place, just past the “If you lived here you’d be home now” sign.

Location : MGH East Garden Room
The East Garden Room is located on the basement level of the main building of Massachusetts General Hospital at 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA. To access the room, please enter through the main entrance of the hospital and proceed past the information desk. As you approach the Coffee Central café, please take the stairs on your right down to the lower level. The East Garden Room is adjacent to the stairs; its windows look out on the Bulfinch Lawn.

Laura Malloy, LICSW, C-IAYT is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher and certified yoga therapist. She serves as BHI’s Director of Yoga Programs and Co-Director of the Institute’s Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) program.
